Real Madrid have reportedly decided to step away from their pursuit of Martin Zubimendi ahead of the next summer transfer window.
According to recent reports from Fichajes, the club’s decision is largely influenced by the strong belief that Dani Ceballos is capable of maintaining his impressive form this season.
For that matter, club president Florentino Perez, along with the board and coaching staff, are convinced that there is no immediate need to make a high-cost midfield signing.
Ceballos has gradually established himself as an important figure within Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. His performances have been consistently strong, showcasing his ability to contribute both offensively and defensively.
Given his current trajectory, the club sees no urgency to invest in Zubimendi, whose release clause is set at approximately €60 million.

The initial speculation linking the Real Sociedad midfielder to a move to Madrid gained momentum following Toni Kroos’ departure. However, the progress Ceballos has made this season has reshaped the club’s plans.
The Spaniard’s performances in recent matches have played a crucial role in solidifying this decision. He has demonstrated excellent playmaking skills, defensive commitment, and sharp vision, all of which have helped Real Madrid maintain their midfield stability.
Additionally, his growing chemistry with teammates such as Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurelien Tchouameni has been a major advantage for the team.
For now, Real Madrid will continue to monitor Ceballos’ progress over the course of the season. However, for the time being, any plans to sign Zubimendi have been put on hold.
The club remains fully confident in Ceballos’ ability to step up and fill the gap in midfield. His performances in the upcoming months will determine whether the club considers reinforcing this position or continues to place its trust in him.
