‘The feeling is good’ – Pau Cubarsí reacts after Barcelona 1-0 Rayo Vallecano

FC Barcelona continued on their winning ways in La Liga as they got another win last night, against the Madrid-based Rayo Vallecano side. This was not an easy win to get, as the visitors put up a stern test for the Blaugranes, but Hansi Flick’s men were ultimately able to get a 1-0 win, courtesy of a penalty converted by Robert Lewandowski.
But the suffering experienced by the Catalans in this game was well worth it, as it ultimately allowed them to return to the top of the La Liga table.
However, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, this top position at the league table did not mean a lot for Pau Cubarsí for now, as he asked his team to continue winning to retain this position for the rest of the season, while also expressing his happiness with the win last night:
“There’s still a lot of league left, and we have to keep going like this. The feeling is good because we won a difficult match, which was very important to win in order to be first, and we did it.”
The young defender also talked about some of the controversial events from this game:
“I saw Iñigo’s penalty clearly, the one they’re complaining about I didn’t see, but if the referee didn’t call it, it must be because it wasn’t a penalty.”
Meanwhile, the Barcelona centre-back also admitted that this was quite an open game, for both sides:
“They had some chances, but we also missed some clear ones in the final third. Yes, we kept a clean sheet, which was important… You can have a bad day, but we created opportunities, and in the end, they will go in.”
Pau Cubarsí’s comments certainly make sense, as, despite their return to the top of the table, nothing is certain, as only 1 point is the difference between Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid on the La Liga table.
Thus, the Catalans will have to ensure they continue with their winning run in order not to give any chance to these other teams to take their top spot going forward.
