Roma have probably been the best side in Serie A in the 2025 calendar year. It has been a turnaround of dreams for them. When Claudio Ranieri returned to his boyhood club in November they were struggling at 12th in Serie A.

Since they lost to Como in December, Roma have been on a 19 match unbeaten streak. A huge credit must go to Ranieri for the way he has completely transformed this team. In those 19 games, they have kept 12 clean sheets. A big reason for this is the form of goalkeeper Mile Svilar, who now leads the league for clean sheets with 15. Other notable improvements include the form of young Matias Soule who has really settled in well and is deciding games now, like last week against Inter.

Another key fact has been their ability to eke out narrow wins. Roma have won 1-0 nine times Serie A this season, which is more than any other team in the Big five European Leagues in the 2024/25 season. Eight of these have come under Claudio Ranieri, a further embodiment of his impact. While he is expected to leave the club come the summer, he is definitely finishing on a high.

Their last couple of games have been very impressive wins, against Inter and now Fiorentina. Their next two games are also extremely important ones, against Atalanta and Milan.
