Manchester City still have plenty of time to find the ideal midfielder to bolster their engine room. The January transfer window still has over three weeks to run before it closes. There is no doubt that the Premier League champions are in the search for a midfielder to cover Rodri’s absence, it’s just that a concrete target is yet to emerge. Manchester City will know that they need a midfielder. They know they can’t enter February with the midfield they currently have. Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva can’t be expected to carry the midfield burden they have for the remainder of this season. But finding a midfielder that can cover Rodri’s absence due to injury and potentially play alongside him when he returns is no simple task. That’s the task City is faced with, and rest assured they are working on it at the same time as they are moving to sign other transfer targets.

The transfer window still has plenty of time left in it for City to find a midfielder. Finding a specific type of player is no means feat. But they will be busy working on finding that type of player although a concrete target for Pep Guardiola’s squad is yet to emerge.
