Chelsea never want to allow any of their players to get into the last two years of their contract according to reports.
A common feature since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over is the offering of long contracts to players when they sign.
The majority of new signings are signing six or seven year deals keeping them tied down to the club for the majority of their career.
The Blues have come in for a lot of criticism for the long contracts they offer, whilst Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson signed extensions last year, keeping them at the club until 2033.
How many players actually stay for anywhere near the duration of their contracts remains to be seen, and many have signed these long deals only to leave a year later.

The club’s sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart have previously spoken about the reasoning behind offering long term deals.
Mail Sport have reported Chelsea are proud of their long contracts and a huge 87% of the squad are tied down until at least 2029 and some longer.
The report adds Chelsea don’t want to allow any players get into the final two years of their deals, and it makes sense from a business perspective to protect your assets.
Chelsea have previously allowed the likes of Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher to enter the final year of their deals, whilst under Roman Abramovich the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen left on frees.
