Sky Germany reports that Tottenham have begun negotiations with Bayern Munich over a move for forward Mathys Tel after it was revealed he is open to leaving the club this month.
Several Premier League clubs are interested in bringing Tel to England. Manchester United, Aston Villa and even Chelsea have been linked to the 19-year-old. Chelsea and Villa are said to have already held talks about a move.
Tottenham are said to be in ‘intense’ talks with Bayern over a loan signing for Tel. The Bundesliga league leaders are open to allowing Tel to leave either on loan or permanently in the January window.
When asked about Tel’s situation yesterday, Bayern’s Director of Sport Max Eberl said:
“Yes, Mathys Tel wants to go. Loan or permanent? We will assess all the options”. “I’ve rarely had so many clubs call me about a player before”
Yesterday, it was revealed that Tel was now open to leaving Bayern after the club tried to force him out earlier this month. The striker then played what seems like his final game for the club as he was in the starting 11 for Bayern’s 3-1 win against Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
This season, Tel has only featured 14 times for Bayern with most of his appearances coming off of the bench.
