Tottenham Hotspur have failed in their bid to sign Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel, according to Le Parisien.

The Frenchman has rejected the chance to join the club despite a €60 million agreement between Spurs and the German champions.

Tottenham had been chasing the highly-rated 19-year-old and secured a deal with Bayern as they look to bolster their attacking options before the transfer window closes on Monday.

However, Tel has rejected the move, preferring to keep his options open as he seeks regular game time away from the Bundesliga giants.

Marseille initially explored a move but later withdrew from the race after Premier League interest intensified.

Tottenham’s bid to bring Tel to London was a brilliant move. Stylistically, he is similar to captain Heung-min Son and he would be a worthy successor.

Unfortunately, he is reluctant to join Tottenham, leaving them searching for alternatives.

The former Stade Rennais striker is still in discussions with other Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester United.

Tottenham have been active in the market, looking to strengthen their squad as they push to end their slump after recording one win in 11 league games.

Missing out on Tel is undoubtedly a setback, especially after reaching an agreement with Bayern.

However, Spurs fans will hope the club has other targets in mind as they look to wrap up business before the window closes.

This rejection is a sign for Spurs to push harder for Brighton & Hove Albion forward Evan Ferguson.

Dominic Solanke is out for six weeks, and Tottenham could use reinforcements at centre-forward.

Spurs should also be looking for a potentially world-class option to take the mantle from Son.

Deportivo La Coruna winger Yeremay Hernandez is an option the club must scout, while Leroy Sane is poised to leave Bayern on a free transfer this summer.
