Two-Man Race Should Juventus Dismiss Their Coach Soon

Thiago Motta’s job will be on the line against Genoa after the break, and Juventus have sent out fliers to Igor Tudor and Roberto Mancini if they need a new coach. The former would be the favorite in case of a coaching change, Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta).
The Croat is currently a free agent after not coming to terms to stay at Lazio last summer. He had taken over with a few matches left after Maurizio Sarri stepped down, finishing in 7th place. He already spent time in Turin as a player and as Andrea Pirlo’s assistant for a year. The former defender was rumored to be promoted at some point in that campaign, but the rookie manager stuck it out.
Both Mancini and Tudor would ask for more than a short-term contract should Juventus come calling, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs. The brass might be keener on the former for his experience in big teams. He’d be a candidate in the summer as well, but the Bianconeri like a few gaffers currently unreachable too.
In the meantime, there’ll be a pre-scheduled meeting with owner John Elkann and CEO Maurizio Scanavino, who oversees also other companies. The two will inevitably touch on the ongoing crisis.
The Fiorentina game looked so bad that it’d be surprising if Motta regained the trust and control of the squad rather than the other way around. The imminent summit might even lead to abrupt decisions. Going with the former would be a drastic shift philosophically, albeit it’d likely lead to a short-term bump given his intensity. If the players didn’t like Motta’s methods, they’d be in for a rude awakening.
