Manchester United suffered a disappointing 3-1 Premier League defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Red Devils made the worst possible start against the Seagulls, with Yankuba Minteh scoring after just five minutes.
United equalised from the penalty spot through Bruno Fernandes, but Brighton were the better side in the second half.
Kaoru Mitoma scored on the hour mark before Georginio Rutter capitalised on a blunder from Andre Onana to seal the win.
Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo were both substituted in the 64th minute. The former was replaced by Toby Collyer, who had another fine cameo.
The 21-year-old impressed off the bench against Southampton and replicated the feat with a solid performance in the centre of the park.
Collyer completed 95 percent of his passes and won all of his tackles and aerial duels. He completed one long ball with four successful recoveries.
Ugarte and Mainoo have looked jaded amid the hectic schedule, and the youngster deserves to start against Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday.
Christian Eriksen should feature alongside him. The Dane provided a fabulous assist for Amad Diallo’s winning goal against the Saints.
He was an unused substitute versus the Seagulls but should be paired alongside Collyer in midweek.
United are seventh in the opening phase of the Europa League and could secure a top-eight spot with a victory over Rangers at Old Trafford.
A top-eight finish is necessary to qualify for the last 16 and avoid the knockout play-off round.
