More details have come to light with regards to Aureliano’s decision not to call a penalty in Roma’s favor in the final minutes of Monza-Roma.

During Open Var, the DAZN program responsible for analyzing the most important refereeing incidents of each Serie A matchday, there was a lot of talk about the contact in the penalty area between Kyriakopoulos and Baldanzi, with the Brianza winger committing a foul on the Giallorossi player.

During the broadcast, the exchange between the referee La Penna and the VAR room, where Aureliano was, were shown.

From the images shown, the referee can be seen exclaiming: “Nothing happened, nothing!”

At that point Aureliano intervenes from the VAR room: “So, while he’s running, he stomps his foot slightly, but he’s running and he’s not looking at the ball.”

“They’re running together, he’s standing still and he’s looking at the ball. You can continue. They’re running, he stomps his foot but he doesn’t commit any foul.”
