It has been a poor start to the season with  Manchester United sitting 14th in the Premier League with eight points out of a possible 21.

Despite speculation surrounding the former Ajax manager’s future, Ten Hag looks set to continue at the helm with the Dutchman preparing for the Brentford clash.

Last time out against Aston Villa, the Dutchman made a shock decision to name Jonny Evans in Manchester United’s starting XI.

Despite the surprise inclusion, Evans was impressive and put in a man-of-the-match performance, but is now reportedly set for a different role in the coming weeks.

With several injury issues with Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot has been deployed at left-back with summer signing Noussair Mazraoui impressing at right-back.

However, Mazroaui is set to be sidelined for the coming weeks after undergoing minor corrective surgery after experiencing some slight Heart issues.

Dalot is expected to return to his natural right-back position, leaving Ten Hag to have to solve the issue at left-back.

In a shocking decision, it has been reported that the Red Devils boss has decided to use Evans as a left-back.

With Evans aged 36, it will be a tough ask for the veteran to play at fullback with an increased demand to cover more ground.

The Mirror, states: “Erik ten Hag is ready to deploy Jonny Evans as an emergency left-back as he wrestles with Manchester United’s defensive injury crisis.”

“Another option available to Ten Hag, with Shaw unlikely to be fit to face Brentford in what would be his first United appearance since February, would be to move Lisandro Martinez across to left-back and play Evans and Matthijs De Ligt in central defence.”
