Real Madrid stars past and present have on Friday taken to social media, to send respective messages of appreciation to Blancos head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

This, of course, comes after the Italian’s impending departure from Spain’s capital was at last made official.

Ahead of the imminent arrival of Xabi Alonso on the bench at the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid this morning unveiled a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms, confirming:

‘Real Madrid C. F. and Carlo Ancelotti have reached an agreement to bring an end to his time as Real Madrid coach. Our club wishes to express its gratitude and appreciation for a man who is a true legend of both Real Madrid and world football.’

Despite what has been a hugely challenging campaign for his side to date, Ancelotti will go down as one of the most beloved and successful managers in Real Madrid’s storied history.

And as much has since been firmly reflected in the ensuing outpour of messages for the tactician online.
