Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk swiftly quashed the suggestion that he has already decided to extend his expiring contract with the Reds.
The towering centre-back is one of three high-profile players hurtling towards the end of their existing Liverpool deals. While Mohamed Salah has openly discussed his uncertain future and Real Madrid have spent much of the season chasing Trent Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk has also been linked with the Spanish giants.
However, speculation has been rife in recent days suggesting that Van Dijk and Salah have already secretly agreed new deals. Liverpool boss Arne Slot dismissed those rumours in the week before Van Dijk had his firm say on the topic.
"What the future brings I have no idea," the Dutch defender told Sky Sports on Thursday night. "Anybody who says they know it - they are wrong."

Van Dijk made this declaration after scoring the final goal in a 4-0 drubbing of Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield to send Liverpool into the Carabao Cup final. The talismanic 33-year-old helped the Reds win last year's showpiece fixture against Chelsea in memorable circumstances with another powerful header.
Liverpool and Van Dijk will be up against Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, 16 March after the Magpies swatted Arsenal aside on Wednesday night. Van Dijk may have mixed feelings about this matchup; while he has never been beaten by the northern giants, the only red card of his entire Liverpool career was against Newcastle in August 2023.
The Reds skipper didn't reserve his steely judgement for the rumour mill. When Liverpool's riotous league form and swaggering Champions League performance was put to him, Van Dijk warned against complacency. "We are in February now, and we cannot complain about the situation we are in, but we should not take any of that for granted and not be easy on each other," he said.
"I don't see that happening as I will be on top of it."
