Maja and Fellows have both been in sensational form during the first half of the Championship season, significantly contributing to Albion being in the top six race and having a chance of a return to the Premier League.

Nigerian international Maja has netted 12 times so far in the second tier after finally gaining a consistent number of starts following two serious ankle injuries last season, ranking as the second-highest top scorer so far this term behind Norwich City’s Borja Sainz.

Meanwhile, Fellows has been rampant on the right flank, contributing 10 assists as well as netting his second goal of the campaign in their most recent draw with Swansea City.

When such high and consistent numbers being produced, bigger clubs are set to be alerted and make moves to improve their squads for the remainder of the season, but Albion won’t be tempted to accept low offers for the important duo, after relieving some financial pressure since the arrival of controlling shareholder Shilen Patel.

According to the report in the Express & Star, West Brom do not find themselves in a position to have either Josh Maja or Tom Fellows sold for under their market value and will only entertain official approaches if they are at an acceptable figure.

Shilen Patel, as part of Bilkul Football group, has been working closely with the EFL to stay in line with their profit and sustainability rules, and while there are still restrictions on what the club can spend, the recent £2.5 million compensation package received for outgoing boss Carlos Corberan has helped ease the pressure, as per the report, meaning the Baggies won’t be rushed into selling their best assets for cheap offers.

The report also states Maja and Fellows have been subject to interest from the Premier League, with wideman Fellows linked with a move to Everton, while Maja has previously been touted for a move to Spain with Celta Vigo to replace the experienced Iago Aspas.

This news will obviously come as a massive relief to everyone connected with West Brom, as the exits of Maja and Fellows in January would surely wave goodbye to any promotion hopes.

Fellows and Maja have been the standout pair in blue and white so far this season, and Albion fans would have been bracing themselves for the worst with rumours constantly flying around about moves away.

But it’s refreshing to see the new ownership show some metal and do all they can to keep their players, with the pair so key to their long-term plan of getting West Brom back into the top flight.

There is now big hope that Maja and Fellows will remain at the club for the rest of the season, and with a consistent number of goals at the top end of the pitch almost guaranteed with them staying, Baggies fans can surely look forward to yet another promotion bid.
