West Ham United are considering making an ambitious move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike in the summer transfer window.
The Hammers have improved recently under Graham Potter, and they are not in danger of getting relegated. The new manager will be given funds to bolster the squad next summer, and it appears that they have identified Ekitike as a potential target.
Signing a top-quality striker has been an age-old problem for West Ham.
Michail Antonio should not be rushed into the side after his horrific accident. Danny Ings has been disappointingly poor, and he should be sold in the summer.
Niclas Fullkrug has hardly made any contribution since joining in the summer, and it seems like the Hammers have wasted their money on him.
His fitness and level of performance have been a major concern as he managed only two goals in 11 appearances across all competitions.
According to a report from Foot Mercato, multiple Premier League clubs are interested in signing the 22-year-old striker.
Liverpool and Arsenal are equally keen to sign the French striker who could be allowed to leave next summer, especially if Frankfurt receive a fee of around €80 million (£67 million).
The Bundesliga club sold Omar Marmoush to Manchester City in the January transfer window, and they could be involved in another blockbuster transfer next summer by selling Ekitike.
The Frenchman left Paris Saint-Germain last summer and joined Frankfurt on a five-year deal. He has taken no time in settling in at his new club and has been one of the key players for them. He has been outstanding in 2024/25, scoring 18 goals and providing six assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.
Ekitike is doing his best to help Frankfurt secure a Champions League position next season, and if they manage to do that, it will become really difficult for West Ham to lure him away from the German club.
