West Ham, as well as Everton, are interested in a deal to sign Sunderland star Dan Neil, but the Black Cats do not want to lose him, according to talkSPORT.

Hammers boss Graham Potter wants to make signings this month and though a striker is a top priority, he also wants to bolster midfield.

Everton, where former West Ham boss David Moyes is in charge, are in the market for additions and are keen on Sunderland man Neil.

West Ham are now also chasing the Black Cats star as they eye a possible swoop to take him to the London Stadium.

Sunderland do not want to lose Neil, especially as they are in the thick of a battle to win promotion up to the Premier League.

Neil, 23, has made 27 appearances in the Championship for Sunderland so far this term, wearing the captain’s armband and missing just a single game through suspension.

Losing him would be a massive blow for Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris, but the Black Cats have shown they are prepared to do business for players at the right price.

Neil, who is under contract until 2026, has made a total of 177 appearances for Sunderland since his debut.
