“Why haven’t you signed Kevin De Bruyne?” – Wrexham chief discusses hilarious fan email on Manchester City midfielder

Wrexham community director Humphrey Ker has revealed details of conversations with supporters over the possibility of signing Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
De Bruyne is leaving City at the end of the season and it remains unclear whether the 33-year-old will be involved in FIFA Club World Cup as the Premier League campaign comes to a close, with City still chasing UEFA Champions League qualification.
Club officials have decided against handing De Bruyne a new deal and the Belgium international has since made his frustrations and disappointment known in interviews, but life goes on and the midfielder will have no shortage of offers for his next chapter.
Aston Villa are understood to have held internal talks over a swoop for the Manchester City man, who will factor in his family when deciding upon his next destination whilst holding a firm belief in his ability to still play at the highest level.
De Bruyne has widespread interest from clubs in the Major League Soccer and the six-time Premier League does prefer the United States as a place to move his family to when compared to Saudi Arabia.
Chelsea have held discussions over the chance of bringing back the player they deemed surplus to requirements and sold to Wolfsburg in January 2014 – but a move remains unlikely owing to the stage of his career De Bruyne finds himself in.
Speaking to Men in Blazers this week, Wrexham community director Humphrey Ker has shared details of emails from supporters enquiring why the Welsh club have not made an approach to sign De Bruyne in the summer.
“As the club has grown, I found that my role as a sort of executive figure, and sort of sub-board level, was less and less necessary. Michael Williamson – the new CEO – and so many new members of staff – we just keep hiring people left right and centre, which is brilliant because we are growing and we desperately needed to do that stuff,” Ker said.
“But I was getting loads of emails from people being like, ‘Why haven’t you signed Kevin De Bruyne’, (and) ‘Could you play Ross Common in a friendly because I’m going there?’,” as quoted by The Wrexham Insider.
