Carlos Soler, currently on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, seems to have found his rhythm at West Ham United, which could pose a dilemma for the club moving forward.

Soler made the move last summer in search of more regular playing time and a new challenge. With multiple clubs expressing interest, West Ham secured his loan deal on deadline day.

However, a February report from  Claret and Hugh revealed that West Ham are unlikely to exercise the option to buy Soler, which was included in his loan agreement.

While the transfer fee of just under €20 million isn’t a significant issue, Soler’s high wages are seen as a major obstacle to a permanent deal, making it tough for the club to pursue the transfer.

Further reports indicate that Soler’s time at West Ham may be limited to just one season.

Football Insider reports that West Ham United are unlikely to make Soler’s loan from PSG permanent. Instead, they plan to use the funds to strengthen other areas of the squad.

Although he likely knew his time at West Ham would be short, especially after the firing of Julen Lopetegui, Soler shared with Relevo what drew him to the club last summer.

“Why West Ham? In the end, I wanted to leave Paris,” Solert said. “No one told me I had to leave, I wanted to get minutes and confidence, to feel truly important.

“It’s true that I had other approaches during the summer, but Lopetegui called me. His call really appealed to me. Also, playing in the Premier League, I’m not sure if it’s the best league, but I’ve always enjoyed it. Being in London also influenced my decision.”
