Will Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka join Borussia Dortmund? | OneFootball

According to Florian Plettenberg, Borussia Dortmund have added Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka to their transfer shortlist.

It has previously been reported that BvB are looking to reinforce their midfield options, with Nuri Şahin prioritising the signing of a number eight.

So far, Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham has been linked with a move to the Westfalenstadion, while Manchester City’s James McAtee is also understood to be a possible target for Die Schwarzgelben.

However, as stated within the report, Dortmund have now added Chukwuemeka to their list of candidates for the number eight role.

The 21-year-old is currently struggling for game time under former Leicester City head coach Enzo Maresca and is believed to be open to a move away from Stamford Bridge this winter.

Chelsea are looking to meet Chukwuemeka’s wishes, opening the door for a possible loan move this month.

Should BvB look to secure the 21-year-old’s signature, it would likely only be on loan, with Chukwuemeka’s €40-45 million release clause considered to be too high for the German outfit.
