Bayer Leverkusen in talks to sign AS Roma’s Mario Hermoso | OneFootball

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayer Leverkusen are closing in on the signing of AS Roma centre-back Mario Hermoso.

It had previously been reported that Die Werkself were looking to conduct some business before the end of the January transfer window.

It had been understood that the German champions were looking to focus on securing attacking and defensive reinforcement in their hunt to chase down Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga table.

As stated in the report, one player that Leverkusen have identified as an ideal contender defensive target is Hermoso.

Talks with Leverkusen are underway as Xabi Alonso looks to add the 29-year-old to his side, with the Spaniard’s ball-playing ability a key factor in Die Werkself’s interest.

As well as Hermoso, Leverkusen are hoping to secure the signing of Mikayil Faye from Stade Rennais, who they are currently considering as an investment for the future, while Hermoso will offer immediate experience to their backline.
