Bayern Munich do not have big plans for the winter transfer window. They are content with the squad, and the focus will be on internal transfers- contract renewals of key players. However, Bayern will certainly spend heavily in the summer.
The record Bundesliga champions want to strengthen the attack in the summer. They are ready to part ways with the likes of Serge Gnabry and Kinsley Coman. Leroy Sane also finds himself in a tricky situation as the Bavarian club is hesitating over offering a new extension.
Bayern have identified Florian Wirtz as their top target to strengthen the attack, but they are also open to signing at least one new winger in the summer.
According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern are interested in signing Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund. The English forward is highly on the list of attacking targets for Die Roten in the summer transfer window.
Bayern have been closely following Gittens's development in Dortmund. The English forward is also aware of Die Roten’s interest. Borussia Dortmund could demand a nine-figure fee if Gittens decides to leave the club in the summer. His current deal with Dortmund expires in 2028.
Gittens has been one of the standout players for Dortmund this season. He has already racked up gametime of 1363 minutes across all competitions. The youngster has scored nine goals in 22 appearances for Dortmund this season. Gittens also has three assists to his name. (Stats courtesy; Whoscored)
It remains to be seen how Bayern Munich will fund moves for Wirtz and Gittens in one summer. Although the club is in a healthy financial situation, such a big outlay on two players will be unprecedented for the club.
Die Roten will need a couple of big sales to make these two moves possible. Sane will leave on a free transfer if the Bavarian club decides against offering him a new deal. They will save a lot of money on his wages, but the lack of a transfer fee will not help them sign two expensive forwards.
Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry, and Kingsley Coman are the players Bayern can hope to raise funds. A combined fee of €100 million for the trio will certainly help Die Roten to offset big spending on Wirtz and Gittens.
Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are going to make life difficult for Bayern. They will try to drive the price of their young players due to interest from several clubs in Europe. It will be a fascinating summer as Bayern once again try to sign top players from their rivals.
