Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr are relentless with their recruitment and have stepped up with a €65 million bid for Brighton & Hove Albion attacker Kaoru Mitoma.
The Saudi League club has been pushing for new additions, closing a deal for Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, and now their radar has turned them to the Brighton winger.
Mitoma has bagged five goals and created eight big chances in 23 Premier League games for Brighton this season. The Japanese international (with 26 caps) is one of the most feared wide-men in the English top flight.
Brighton might be tempted to let the 27-year-old leave if they can squeeze a bigger number from the Saudis, considering they have several wing options, but it is also contingent on the player.
However, approaching the Seagulls this close to the shutting of the transfer window does not give them a chance to identify and sign a replacement if they need one.
It is unclear how the situation could play out in the next few days, but for now, Brighton have refused to play ball.
This winter window has been relatively quiet for the Seagulls, with Diego Gomes the only signing that has come through the doors of the Amex Stadium.
Most of the talk has been about outgoings like Julio Enciso, Jakub Moder, and youngster Imari Samuels.
Brighton also recently made Evan Ferguson available for loan, sparking a fierce battle between West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Marseille and AFC Bournemouth for his signature.
The youngster needs to have only playing time on his mind when he considers his next move. The Brighton striker must get ample playing time to find his rhythm after injuries blighted his development.
