Paris Saint-Germain showed interest in Dean Huijsen last summer as part of a push to reinforce their defense, but the Spanish center-back joined AFC Bournemouth instead. If PSG circle back, they won’t be the only ones in the mix.

Even after signing Willian Pacho, PSG will probably target another central defender, with Milan Skriniar likely to leave this summer. CaughtOffside previously reported that several top clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and PSG, are monitoring the 20-year-old closely.

Huijsen has stood out since arriving in the Premier League, quickly emerging as one of Europe’s most exciting young defenders. If PSG make another move, they’ll face plenty of competition—and a significant price tag.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are one of his most serious suitors and see him as a long-term heir to Virgil van Dijk. Bournemouth reportedly set his release clause at £50 million.

Could Dean Huijsen be heading to Stamford Bridge?

The latest information on Huijsen comes from The Athletic’s James Pearce, whose reporting reveals that Liverpool currently regard Chelsea as the front-runner for the Spanish standout for a potential summer switch.

Amid the potential for the Blues to be leading this transfer race, Newcastle United face an uphill battle in their pursuit of Dean Huijsen. The i Paper reported Thursday that the club has already held talks with the defender’s camp, but there’s a feeling his attention might be elsewhere.

The report also notes that Newcastle are eager to move quickly in the transfer market as they prepare for European competition. They’re determined to avoid a repeat of last summer’s drawn-out and ultimately unsuccessful attempt to sign Marc Guehi.
