After a cameo appearance off the bench in the 4-2 win over Newcastle United and an hour away at Chelsea, he played 90 minutes in the home defeat to Nottingham Forest.
However, one of his best games from December came at the Amex Stadium when the Bees drew 0-0 with Brighton and Hove Albion. The Dane dominated the midfield, with his usual intricate passing and non-stop work rate on show, as well as a mazy run which would have seen him score one of the goals of the season.
Throughout the month, he made four key passes, 10 dribbles and was fouled four times, which all contributed to the Bees' attacking output.
However, it wasn't just his offensive contributions that stood out in December. He made an incredible 15 tackles throughout the month (including eight in that game away at Aston Villa), four interceptions and two clearances.
