Didi Hamann on BVB crisis: "Throw out five or six players" | OneFootball

In the wake of yet another poor result for Borussia Dortmund, Sky Germany pundit Didi Hamann had his say on the crisis.

The former German international believes the club only has one opportunity left at their disposal.

"You really make a cut and throw out five or six players," as Hamann went on to discuss personnel consequences like Julian Brandt.

"That may be unfair now. If they lose, they lose together, but he [Brandt] is one of the key players, the coach mentions him in the same breath as Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala.

"When he's in a good mood, he has tremendous quality. [But] he's been there for too long and he's symptomatic of what's been happening in Dortmund for years," said Hamann.

The second player Hamann feels Die Schwarzgelben should move on in the summer is Jamie Gittens.

"The other is Gittens. He's a young guy and you can say that the older players have to perform. But the player with the highest market value is probably Gittens.

"He started the season strongly and destroyed everything. He scored goals and assisted and was unstoppable. I understand that a player like that has a slump sometimes, but he has been stuck for five months now and that cannot be right.

“Perhaps the supposed offers from England have turned his head,” Hamann said of the young English winger.
