Godfrey joined Arsenal’s academy in 2018 and signed her first professional contract with the club in June 2023. She has made three senior appearances for the Gunners, including a Champions League debut against Vålerenga. Godfrey also featured heavily for Arsenal in pre-season, alongside her fellow academy graduates.

Following her move to the Pride, Freya said: “I’m really excited to sign for the club and I can’t wait to get started at Hayes Lane.”

Godfrey will join up with fellow Arsenal academy graduate Teyah Goldie, who is also currently on loan at the Championship side.

The Arsenal academy graduate has captained the England U19s at international level. She has scored 12 goals in 23 appearances for the U19s, demonstrating her proficiency in front of goal.

Freya Godfrey joins promotion pushers London City

Godfrey will add a new dimension to the London City Lionesses attack, owing to her versatility and technical capabilities. Her addition will be crucial in the club’s push for promotion to the Women’s Super League. Meanwhile, the chance to gain regular senior minutes will greatly benefit her overall development. London City Lionesses currently sit second in the Championship, only trailing to leaders Birmingham City by one point. Their next fixture is against Portsmouth at West Leigh Park on Sunday, February 2nd.
