Gustav Isaksen has made the leap in his second season in Italy and is drawing the interest of a few clubs, including Tottenham and Inter. After a lackluster first campaign in Serie A, he has become a centerpiece of the formation under Marco Baroni. He has totaled 5 goals and 5 assists in 39 appearances.
According to La Repubblica (via Calciomercato), Lazio value their winger at €40M. Their transfer market plans will hinge primarily on the Champions League qualification. If they miss out, they’ll cash in on one or two players to finance their acquisitions.
Isaksen would be one of the candidates for such a purpose, and Inter would consider investing in him as he could potentially handle a couple of roles in their scheme. Simone Inzaghi would try to use him as a wing-back or as a second striker.
Giuseppe Marotta was asked about the Dane by Radio Anch’io Lo Sport (via SOSFanta).
“He’s good, but we’re linked to this or that player every day. I believe we have the best-attacking pair in Italy with Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram. It’s also high-level in Europe. We are the most prolific team, so there’s no problem there. We’re scoring with the forwards and from other roles too.”
He has become a very nice player, but that valuation is far-fetched. It won’t be too hard for the Biancocelesti to sell him and replace him with a great prospect, turning a profit without hurting the quality of their squad too much. On the other hand, it’s improbable that the Nerazzurri will be his destination for tactical and economic reasons.
