Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that his team have been in great form in Serie A after their disappointing derby loss to AC Milan.

The Nerazzurri coach spoke to InterTV after yesterday’s Serie A win over Cagliari, via FCInterNews. He noted that his team have won ten of their last twelve league fixtures.

Losses in the derby always feel more significant than other defeats for Inter.

AC Milan are the Nerazzurri’s city rivals, and the derby between the two sides is one of the real showpiece occasions of Italian football.

Moreover, prior to this season, Inter had gone on a remarkable run of six straight wins in the derby.

This had included victories in the Supercoppa Italiana, and in both legs of a Champions League semifinal tie.

However, that run truly came to a screeching halt in September.

As is so often the case in the derby, the form book went out the window. Milan went into the fixture as underdogs, but outplayed Inter for a well-deserved 2-1 victory.

Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi Stresses “10 Wins From 12 In Serie A” After AC Milan Defeat

Inter coach Inzaghi reflected on his team’s form after yesterday’s win over Cagliari.

“Sometimes, even when you don’t win it can be useful,” the coach argued.

“I’m thinking of the derby we lost,” Inzaghi said. “Since then we’ve won ten and drawn two.”

“We’re happy,” the Nerazzurri coach went on. “But we know that there’s still a lot more that we can do.”

“As a coach, I saw an excellent performance against a good team who have lost a few recent matches undeservedly. Now, we have a good win, and we keep going.”

Inzaghi noted that “I’m fortunate to have these great players.”

“And a great club, and great fans,” he continued. “It’s easy for me to do my work here, I feel respected.”

“Now let’s leave an incredible 2024 behind us,” Inzaghi said. “In which we won the second star, which will always united us.”

“But what matters now is 2025. And we have the Supercoppa, which we have to be at our best for.”

The Nerazzurri coach called next week’s Supercoppa “an important trophy.”

“We’ve won it for the last three years straight. And we’ll try to do so again, against some very good teams.”

“We’ll try to prepare for it as best we can over the next five days.”
