Inter Milan and Napoli are set to go head-to-head for the signature of Bologna defender Sam Beukema this summer.
This according to Naples-based newspaper Il Mattino, via FCInterNews. They report that the Dutchman has jumped to the top of Napoli’s shortlist, while Inter also remain keen.
Defender Sam Beukema has enjoyed two very positive seasons with Bologna.
The Dutchman joined the Rossoblu from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2023. And he instantly established himself as pillar of their defense under both Thiago Motta and Vincenzo Italiano.
Beukema has played a role in Bologna qualifying for the Champions League last season. And in their quest for another season of European qualification this time around.
Meanwhile, Sam Beukema also won the Coppa Italia with Bologna this season. He started in the final, a 1-0 win over AC Milan.

Naturally, Beukema’s form over the past couple seasons has not gone unnoticed by bigger clubs.
Napoli have reportedly made the 26-year-old a major target.
Il Mattino report that one of the main priorities for the Partenopei this summer is to strengthen in defense.
And the newspaper anticipate that Beukema has overtaken the likes of Oumar Solet as Pietro Commuzzo as their main target.
However, reports Il Mattino, Inter are very much ready to rival Napoli for Beukema’s signature.
The Nerazzurri are also ready to make a major signing in defense this summer. They must find a long-term successor to stalwarts like Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi.
