Juventus manager Igor Tudor blasted his substitutes after last night’s 2-1 home victory against Serie A bottom-half strugglers Lecce. Speaking at the press conference, Tudor heavily criticized his backup options after winning his second game in charge.

First-half goals from Teun Koopmeiners and Kenan Yildiz inspired Juventus to an all-important home victory against Lecce. Interestingly, Dusan Vlahovic was the assist provider on both occasions, perhaps signaling a long-awaited return to form.

However, Juventus lost momentum in the second half and had to survive a nerve-wracking finish after Federico Baschirotto pulled one back for Lecce. Tudor made four changes midway through the second half, yet the substitutes failed to live up to the billing.

As a result, the Juventus interim boss lashed out at the press conference.

“I didn’t like the substitutions,” Tudor confirmed. “There are five substitutions now. Football is not what it used to be. Half of the team can be changed, and everything changes. The players need to think.

“This is what I am trying to teach them,” the Juventus coach continued. “They must change the way they think because things have changed. They can make a difference. As I said, I didn’t like them.

“We have to grow quickly. Excuses are for everyone. I was a player, too, but the team comes above all the rest in the end.”

Last night’s win saw Juventus leapfrog Bologna into fourth, taking a significant step toward securing a sought-after Champions League qualification.
