Juventus are widening their scope to bolster their defense and have started pursuing Antonio Silva, who broke out at Benfica at a very young age. While the Bianconeri have primarily been linked to potential loanees or cost-effective players, they could concoct a different type of operation if they found the right guy, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
The center-back started being a regular three seasons ago but hasn’t been an unquestioned starter in the current one. He has been an unused sub for the past three matches. He already has 17 caps with Portugal under his belt.
Juventus will make an attempt to sign Silva on loan, paying a relatively large fee upfront, and then acquire him next summer. It’d be a repeat of the Francisco Conceiçao deal. The two are represented by the same agent, Jorge Mendes, TuttoSport informs. He has a strong rapport with director Cristiano Giuntoli.
The 21-year-old has a robust valuation, but the move would allow the Old Lady to gain the inside track ahead of a future permanent switch. They faced him in the Champions League back in 2022.
The scenario would change significantly if they could bring in an expensive player thanks to some creativity. It’d surely allow them to make a make a more surefire addition. He might be a little too in-demand and expensive for this purpose, but their search would be a lot easier if they could pull off this stratagem. Other sides would flock and likely offer more straightforward deals if they smelled that the Benfica star was for sale.
