Manchester United crashed out of the FA Cup at Old Trafford, falling to Fulham in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.
Manager Ruben Amorim made two changes to his side with Christian Eriksen and Noussair Mazraoui coming into the starting XI.
United began with energy and intent but failed to capitalise on their early half-chances.
Fulham made them pay at the stroke of half-time as Calvin Bassey struck on the stroke of half-time to give the visitors the lead.
United lacked urgency in their play in second half but Bruno Fernandes pulled them level with a superb first-time strike.
Both teams had chances to snatch a winner in extra time, but the goalkeepers came up with crucial saves to ensure the game ended 1-1.
Victor Lindelof and Joshua Zirkzee missed their penalty kicks which led to United’s exit from the competition.
Andre Onana – 7/10
Onana produced two decent yet routine saves to deny Emile Smith Rowe, including a crucial stop in injury time.
Matthijs de Ligt – 8/10
The Dutch defender looked comfortable with the ball at his feet.
He was aggressive and made a fabulous challenge to deny Andreas Pereira a shot at goal.
Harry Maguire – 6/10
The England international held his own against Rodrigo Muniz but couldn’t generate enough power on his header from a 90th-minute set-piece to snatch another match-winning goal.
Leny Yoro – 6/10
Yoro made no notable errors and was taken off for Victor Lindelof early in the second half.
Noussair Mazraoui – 5/10
He started in the right wing-back spot but did not provided much support in the final third.
Diogo Dalot – 7/10
The Portuguese full-back kept Adama Traore quiet and then assisted Fernandes with a pinpoint cross.
Manuel Ugarte – 5/10
Ugarte lost his man while defending the set-piece through which Fulham scored the opener. He was surprisingly taken off before the hour mark.
Bruno Fernandes – 7/10
Fernandes added another goal contribution to his tally, guiding a first-time shot with pinpoint precision into the corner.
He ran tirelessly in attack and in defence and looked completely exhausted by the final whistle.
Christian Eriksen – 5/10
Eriksen carved out an early chance for Hojlund but faded as the game progressed.
Joshua Zirkzee – 7/10
Zirkzee continued to shine with his link-up play, threading a brilliant through ball to Garnacho in the dying moments of normal time. However, heartbreak followed as he was left in tears after missing his spot-kick in the shoot-out.
Rasmus Hojlund – 2/10
Hojlund offered no threat in attack, looking out of place against Premier League opposition.
His goal drought has extended to 18 games and does not deserve to start for United.
Victor Lindelof – 4/10
A rare appearance for the Sweden international but he did well under testing circumstances.
However, he missed his chance to find the back of the net in the penalty shootout.
Alejandro Garnacho – 7/10
Garnacho played the forward pass to find Dalot for United’s equaliser.
He unfortunately scuffed his shot which could have sealed United’s progression to next round in the normal time.
Chido Obi – 7/10
Obi came agonisingly close to a dream match-winning goal in the 96th minute.
The 17-year-old unleashed another fine shot at Leno but the goalkeeper made a superb save.
Casemiro – 6/10
The veteran repeatedly launched long balls, aiming to exploit Fulham’s high defensive line.
Ayden Heaven – 6/10
The teenager made his senior debut for United and looked assured in defence.
