With the January transfer window open, Paris Saint-Germain has a chance to offload players who no longer fit into their plans—Marco Asensio being one of them.
Since November 30, Asensio’s role has diminished significantly. The former Real Madrid star has lost his place in the starting lineup and has barely featured off the bench.

According to Mail Sport, Aston Villa are considering Asensio among several attacking options as they look to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes. Earlier this week, a report also linked him to Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, and Chelsea.
Aston Villa is reportedly leading the race, though Bayer Leverkusen, Galatasaray, and clubs in Saudi Arabia have also shown interest. Talks over a permanent move are ongoing, with a transfer fee expected to fall between €15 million and €25 million.
With time running out in the window and Luis Enrique seemingly not viewing him as a key part of his project, speculation over Asensio’s future continues to grow.
On Thursday, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Aston Villa are in talks with PSG for Asensio, one of the prominent names on their list. Moreover, Romano’s reporting reveals that the Spaniard would be keen on a move to Villa.
