The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner’s contract runs until 2027, so Spurs still have two more years to work with after this season. With that much time remaining, Tottenham may not feel the need to rush into new contract discussions just yet.

Certain rumors are surfacing about the Argentine defender, Romero, amid the rumors that he could be on the move.

Moreover, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Wednesday that, despite reports from Argentina, there is no €65 million release clause in Romero’s contract at Tottenham.

Last summer, Tottenham considered him untouchable despite interest from top clubs. Romano recently mentioned that Romero’s contract might become a topic of discussion in the coming months, as the club naturally wants to keep him for the long term. However, no active negotiations have begun yet.

While there wasn’t a specific asking price, Transfermarkt estimates Romero’s value at €65 million. Despite the interest, Tottenham remained firm in its stance, refusing to entertain any offers for the defender.
