Real Madrid have named Xabi Alonso as their new boss, following the exit of legendary manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Alonso, who used to run the midfield for Real, Bayern Munich and Liverpool, is stepping into the role after an unbelievable season in charge of Bayer Leverkusen.

The 43-year-old led Leverkusen to their first-ever Bundesliga title and did it without losing a single game. He also bagged the German Cup, all in his first full season managing a top team in 2023-24.

He knows Madrid well, having played there from 2009 to 2014, and now he’s heading back to the Bernabéu to take the reins, with Ancelotti officially stepping down last Friday.

Alonso’s signed on until June 2028 and will kick things off next month at the Club World Cup over in the States.
