Tottenham Hotspur could be looking to sign a new striker in the January transfer window, and they have stepped up their effort to land Ajax forward Brian Brobbey.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are looking to add Brobbey to their ranks, but they are likely to face strong competition from West Ham United who are already in direct talks with the player over a January move.

The Hammers have already agreed terms with the Dutch forward, but Tottenham have now made an approach.

Spurs have asked Ajax for loan deal conditions, and he is one of the options being considered. Daniel Levy has a reputation for being a tough negotiator, and Spurs could now look to hijack the West Ham deal for the 22-year-old attacker.

Spurs are badly struggling at the moment with injury problems. They are sitting 15th in the Premier League table, just eight points clear of the relegation zone.

The North London club is missing several key players in defence, but they also lack depth in their attacking areas.

With Richarlison and Timo Werner failing to make any sort of impact, Ange Postecoglou needs a back-up striker in the coming days of the transfer window after Dominic Solanke has been ruled out for six weeks.

Spurs are not looking to recall Manor Solomon from his loan spell at Leeds United, which means they are most likely to buy a striker on loan this month.

Brobbey has emerged as an option for Levy. Despite West Ham being in direct talks with Ajax over a loan deal with an obligation to buy, Spurs have made an approach.

After progressing through the youth ranks at Ajax, he joined RB Leipzig in 2021. After failing to impress in Germany, he returned to his former club on loan, and later the move was made permanent.

The Netherlands international scored 22 goals in 2023/24, but he has only scored one goal in nine starts in the Eredivisie this season.

Thus, Ajax could be willing to let him go out on loan, and Spurs and West Ham are battling it out for his signature.
