The changes made by Hansi Flick in the second half were once again crucial as FC Barcelona got a victory against Las Palmas in their last La Liga game.

After a goalless first half, the Blaugranes got ahead on the scoreboard only after Dani Olmo got on the pitch in the second half and scored in the 62nd minute.

With this strong half-game performance against Las Palmas, Mundo Deportivo notes that the Spaniard is once again in contention for a starting spot in Hansi Flick’s team for the upcoming Copa del Rey semi-final against Atlético Madrid.

This comes despite him not having started a game for Barcelona since their Copa del Rey clash against Real Betis on January 15th, after which the team has played 10 matches.

He is expected to be one of the four changes that the German tactician can make to his starting line-up for this game, along with the additions of Iñigo Martínez, Ronald Araújo, and Frenkie de Jong.

Playing mostly as a substitute in the last few games, Olmo has performed at a very high level, bettering even the record of Ferran Torres. He is scoring a goal every 124 minutes, which is better than Raphinha’s average of a goal every 160 minutes.

Similarly, his effectiveness on the pitch is clear from the fact that despite having played only 744 minutes in La Liga, he has already scored 6 goals. Two of these goals, against Rayo Vallecano and Las Palmas, came when he got into the game as a substitute.

On the other hand, in the games against Real Valladolid, Girona, and Espanyol, Olmo scored after having been a part of the starting line-up.

The Spaniard has seen his season significantly disturbed by injuries and registration issues, but he has already shown his ability to come back stronger whenever he has had to miss some games.

Hopefully, this will be the case this time as well, and he will help Barcelona get a crucial win in the upcoming match against Atletico Madrid.
