AC Milan are considering an approach to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on loan this month.

Rashford is expected to leave Manchester United in the January transfer window having expressed a desire for a new challenge. After being dropped for the Manchester Derby last month, the 27-year-old said he was ‘ready for the next steps’ in his career.

He has not featured for Ruben Amorim’s side since those comments, though was an unused substitute for the defeat to Newcastle on December 30th.

Sky Italy are reporting that AC Milan are now holding internal discussions around Rashford. New head coach Sergio Conceicao is keen to strengthen his attacking options with Rafael Leao currently sidelined. Rashford could join a growing list of Englishmen at the San Siro, with Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham all currently part of the Rossoneri’s squad.

Milan would only be able to facilitate a loan move and would require Manchester United to pay a large portion of the player’s wages. While there might be a reluctance from the Red Devils to sanction a loan exit, a return to regular football could inflate Rashford’s value ahead of the summer transfer window.

Milan are currently eighth in Serie A after a disappointing start, eight points adrift of the Champions League places.

Rashford is one of several Manchester United players who could be moved on this month as Ruben Amorim looks to bring in funds. Offers will be listened to for Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans, who are all out of contract in the summer. Casemiro and Antony are also free to leave if suitable offers arrive in January.
