América are continuing their efforts to make additions before the 2022 Clausura with Emmanuel Martínez of Barcelona rumoured to be close to a move.
Reports from Ecuadaor claim that 27-year-old Martínez, who joined Barça from Deportivo Cuenca last January, could become an Eagle early next week.
The left winger has had a productive year with the Toreros, scoring nine goals and chipping in with eight assists in 41 appearances in all competitions.
It is believed that Renato Ibarra could be used as a bargaining chip, with the Ecuador international’s time at the Estadio Azteca all but certain to be up.
Off-field issues and injury problems have marred the 30-year-old’s past couple of years on the Azulcrema’s books.
Should Martínez complete the switch, he is likely to be the second signing of the close season.
Santos Laguna attacking midfielder Diego Valdés was spotted arriving in Mexico City on Saturday, with TUDN reporting that the Chile international was due to undergo a medical before a $12m deal is inked.
