Although this season is just beginning, América are facing the same problems as last campaign, with many injuries and players out of the squad for various reasons.
Despite this, América are enjoying a decent start to the 2020 Clausura, currently in fourth place on 10 points through their first five games.
Over the weekend, they enjoyed three points on the road as an Andrés Ibargüen brace led them to a 2-1 victory over Querétaro.
However, the 27-year-old now faces possible punishment for a celebration which has long been deemed illegal by Liga MX.
While celebrating the eventual match-winning goal, Ibargüen used his finger to simulating firing shots into the crowd – which is prohibited according to the Liga MX guidelines.
Due to not being a recurring problem, it’s not expected that Ibargüen will be suspended. He will likely be fined and receive a stern warning against using the celebration ever again.
