Everton are taking encouraging steps off the pitch, and The Friedkin Group are wasting no time in building the club as they promised.
After a turbulent phase in the last few years, the Toffees fans are hoping to see a better future. Everton will play in a brand-new stadium next season, and they are in safe hands under David Moyes.
Everton are undefeated in their last seven Premier League games. The fears of relegation have evaporated quickly, and in return, fresh optimism of finishing the season on a high has been restored.
Off the pitch, the Friedkins are doing some smart work. According to Mark Douglas of INews, The Toffees have agreed a “sensible long-term mortgage” in a £350 million stadium financing deal that will allow them to pay interest at a low rate, and they can save up to £50m a year, which will be reinvested into the squad.
There is a “sense of urgency” to rebuild the club. The Toffees are close to confirming the appointment of a new CEO, with Angus Kinnear lined up for the key role. The move is imminent and confirmation of that could even arrive before the end of this week.
The roles of CEO have become crucial in modern-day football, and Everton are working in the right direction to set the structure properly. Kinnear has done a terrific job at Leeds, and his experience will benefit the Toffees.
Everton are also in talks to bring former West Ham Head of Recruitment, Rob Newman to the club. The 61-year-old has previously worked with Moyes and has experience working at Man City and Bournemouth.
Also, Everton’s Chief Commercial Officer, Richard Kenyon, is set to leave the club. The new owners are looking to replace him with an experienced commercial officer. This is a clear indication that the new owners have a clear vision of what affirmative leadership should look like and where roles should be fixed.
The recruitment team needs an upgrade, and probably that is why Moyes wants to bring in someone whom he can trust.
After years of mismanagement under Farhad Moshiri, it is refreshing to see that the new owners are taking big steps to make Everton a well-run club. Once the pyramidal structure is set, it becomes easy for the manager to carry out his task perfectly.
