Arsenal forward injured on international duty | OneFootball

Leandro Trossard suffered an injury on international duty with Belgium at the weekend, though initial signs don’t suggest it’s anything too serious.

Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard made his second start of the international break on Sunday, included in the Belgium starting lineup to face Israel.

But just 37 minutes later, the winger walked off the field after an early injury substitution.

The exact reason for the withdrawal isn’t clear, though there is some hope the problem is an impact injury, rather than a muscle problem. The player was moving awkwardly after appearing to have his foot stepped on, but the way he walked off the pitch suggested it wasn’t too serious.

At this stage, we can only speculate, and after the last couple of international breaks, Arsenal fans are understandably nervy when it comes to injuries.

Martin Odegaard got his foot caught in a challenge with Norway in September and missed two months, Bukayo Saka pulled a muscle with England in October and seemingly still hasn’t returned to 100% fitness, and Riccardo Calafiori missed the north London derby after an injury with Italy.

Whilst Trossard’s injury might not initially look like a major cause for concern, it’s certainly a worry that he immediately felt he had to come off.

One small upside in this case is that Belgium played their second game so early in the break. Trossard will have the full working week to assess the injury, rest, and hopefully recover before the Gunners face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

That’s not the case with all of Arsenal’s internationals, with eight fixtures potentially involving members of Mikel Arteta’s squad still to be played until as late as Wednesday.
