Atlético star misses training ahead of Alavés clash | OneFootball

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid played no part in group training alongside the rest of the club’s first-team squad on Thursday.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Rodrigo Riquelme as the player in question.

Atlético are currently in the midst of final preparations for a return to action this weekend.

With over a week’s worth of rest under their belts, Diego Simeone’s troops will make the trip to Mendizorroza, for a La Liga meeting with Deportivo Alavés.

As alluded to above, though, in efforts to build on a morale-boosting 3-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano last time out, the Rojiblancos could yet be forced to make do without an altogether important player.

As per a report from MD, after Rodrigo Riquelme trained separately from his teammates on Thursday:

‘Everything will depend on Friday’s training session to determine whether Cholo will have all his players available or whether Roro (Riquelme) will be the only absentee.’
