Despite it being several weeks since the winter transfer market closed in Europe, FC Barcelona are still working on one departure that can take place before the end of this month.
The possibility of such an operation remains as the transfer market does not close in Brazil till 28th February, and one of the biggest Brazilian clubs, Palmeiras, is interested in signing the Blaugrana striker Vitor Roque, who is currently playing on loan at Real Betis.
Palmeiras are looking to incorporate Roque in their squad before the transfer window closes, but this going to be quite a complicated operation.
This is because, in addition to Barcelona, Palmeiras, and Roque himself, Real Betis will also be involved in this operation as they have the player on loan till the end of this season, and also have the option to get him permanently or extend his loan for another year.
As a result, the Verdiblancos are likely to ask for some compensation to part with the Brazilian starlet in the middle of the season, even though they have the striker position well-covered. However, Palmeiras do not want to get involved in these negotiations with the Andalusian side, and want the Blaugranes to deal with them.
In this regard, SPORT reports that Barcelona have already contacted the Real Betis board directly to present them with a formal notification that Palmeiras are going to put in a formal offer for Roque shortly.
The Catalans are clear that they are not going to make any losses on the player, and thus, the Brazilians will have to pay at least a sum of around €25 million, while the Blaugranes will also be looking to keep 20% rights on the player.
These terms are similar to what Barcelona had agreed with Real Betis, who had the option to buy 80% of the player’s rights at the end of this season.
An agreement between the two La Liga clubs is likely to be reached, especially if the Blaugranes offer some compensation to the Seville side, and also because of the good relations between them.
