In recent weeks, Barcelona have grown more serious about signing a right-back, especially knowing that the club lack the services of a proper alternative for Jules Kounde.

As such, the club have been linked with moves for several right-back across including. One of them has been Andrei Ratiu of Rayo Vallecano.

The Romanian has enjoyed immense success at Vallecano this season, establishing himself as one of the best-performing right-backs in La Liga.

Barcelona planning fresh contacts for Ratiu

According to Matteo Moretto, Ratiu remains a hot topic within the Barcelona camp, which has mentioned his name several times in the recent past.

At 26, Ratiu has vast experience in Spanish football, with 38 La Liga appearances and almost double as many appearances in the second division. He also has 26 caps to his name for the Romanian national team.

As mentioned earlier, Ratiu has become a vastly improved footballer. His sound technical quality coupled with his hard-working mentality could make him an ideal fit at Barcelona.

More importantly, Ratiu could be a cost-effective option for Barça – something the club are looking for.

The Romanian international had joined Rayo for just half a million and therefore, he is unlikely to cost anything more than the €10 million mark, should Barcelona go after him.

Keeping that in mind, the Catalans have already planned fresh contacts with Ratiu in the coming weeks, which suggests the club are indeed serious about signing the Rayo star next summer.

However, Barça have no shortage of options in the transfer market, so it will be interesting to see whether or not Deco considers other alternatives as well, including AS Monaco’s Vanderson.
