Barcelona did not have significant representation at the Globe Soccer Awards ceremony in Dubai last night but did have their reason to celebrate through Lamine Yamal.
The youngster, after all, was named the Best Emerging Player in the world by the Middle East-based award ceremony, adding the latest feather to his cap.
Speaking to the media at the Globe Soccer Awards last night, Barcelona legend Gerard Pique commented on some burning topics in Catalonia.
He began by addressing the elephant in the room – Yamal winning the best-emerging player award – and praised the teenage forward.
“It’s difficult to set a ceiling for Lamine Yamal. We have to take care of him as the years go by,” he said. (h/t FCB World).

“He’s very young, gives us a lot, and we’ll see how he develops in the future,” he added.
The former defender then gave his two cents on Barcelona’s struggles in registering Dani Olmo and what could come out of the confusion in the Catalan capital.
“It’s difficult to have an opinion on the Olmo registration issue without all of the facts.
“Regardless, the club have to find a way to register him because the investment in the summer for him was very big.”
“The situation is complicated, but they will find a way,” he concluded.
As it stands, Barcelona are exploring multiple options to register Olmo in time, including legal and economic levers. It remains to be seen if the player is registered in time for the Spanish Super Cup for his presence is absolutely vital.
