Recent reports from ESPN indicate that Barcelona will not be returning to their iconic Camp Nou stadium in November, December, or February, with the anticipated return now set for March 2024.

This information has emerged following statements from internal club sources. Originally, the plan was to complete the stadium’s renovations and return by late 2024, but the timeline has shifted considerably.

In previous discussions, there had been hopes of a return to the Camp Nou by February, fueled by statements from Elena Fort, the vice president of the club.

She mentioned that efforts were being made to ensure the stadium was ready for use by the end of December.

However, these aspirations have since been scaled back, and the team was looking at February 2, 2025, for a match against Alaves as the latest possible return date.

Unfortunately, the latest updates suggest that it will not be until March 2024 that Barcelona can officially play at home again.

There would be a delay

Currently, construction work at Spotify Camp Nou is progressing steadily, although the team is still dealing with foundational work, particularly related to the car park and the formwork of the third-tier structures.

Visible advancements are being made, especially within the stadium itself. For example, the waterproofing of the first and second tiers is nearly complete.

While this extended timeline might disappoint many supporters eager to see their team back at their historic home, the progress being made offers a glimmer of hope. Fans can look forward to a revitalised Camp Nou that will be even better than before.

The club is committed to ensuring that when they finally return, it will be a momentous occasion, ready to welcome both the team and its devoted supporters back to a transformed and enhanced stadium experience.
