Newcastle United are monitoring Borussia Dortmund duo Gregor Kobel and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens ahead of a summer transfer move, according to the Daily Mail.

The Magpies will likely return to the Champions League next season, and manager Eddie Howe needs to bolster his squad to compete.

The goalkeeping position is crucial for Newcastle this summer. Nick Pope struggled after returning from injury. Some fans wanted him dropped after shaky showings.

With back-up Martin Dubravka entering the twilight of his career, Newcastle need to sign a new shot-stopper this summer.

Kobel has been a regular for BVB as they yo-yoed between domestic inconsistency and Champions League overperformance.

He has been one of their better players since he joined them from Stuttgart in 2021.

However, Dortmund will be ready to cash in if a solid offer comes for the Swiss international this summer.

Burnley’s James Trafford is also on Newcastle’s shortlist. He stood out in the Championship and will likely cost less than Kobel if he moves elsewhere.

Bynoe-Gittens is another Dortmund player on Newcastle’s radar. The 20-year-old has enjoyed a breakout campaign in Germany, recording 12 goals and five assists in 47 appearances.

He lost some steam in the middle of the campaign, but his early-season form was an exciting glimpse into his immense potential.

Chelsea have also been linked with him, while Arsenal have been touted as a potential destination.

Bynoe-Gittens could become an option for Newcastle if the club loses Harvey Barnes this summer, with Aston Villa plotting a move for him.
