Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti was keen to make clear his appreciation for the efforts of a member of the club’s defensive ranks, on the back of Friday’s meeting with Valencia.
Real, of course, are fresh off yet another spectacular comeback victory last night.
After making the trip to Mestalla for a La Liga clash with Valencia, Los Blancos found themselves a goal and a man down inside the game’s closing stages.
Upon Luka Modrić emerging from the bench to level things up, however, the stage was set for the reigning champions to complete the turnaround, Jude Bellingham having notched the game’s decisive goal deep into injury-time.
A number of Real Madrid’s stars played leading roles in their eventual triumph, with one such figure having come in the form of Eduardo Camavinga.
Introduced as a 2nd-half substitute at Mestalla, the Frenchman was credited with changing the flow of things entirely, courtesy of his endeavours on both sides of the ball.
Speaking to the media post-match, the subject of Camavinga’s performance was therefore put to Carlo Ancelotti.
Real’s headmaster, though, made use of the opportunity to shift the spotlight onto another member of his squad, in Ferland Mendy:
“Eduardo Camavinga changed the game? Mendy played his game. I think Mendy played a very good game.”
