Brendan Rodgers today confirmed that James Forrest is expected to be out for six weeks due to a knock he picked up in Sunday’s Premier Sports League Cup final victory over theRangers at Hampden.
The winger finished the game after coming on as a substitute in the second period of extra time but took a knock which was evident in his post match interview in which he was seen wearing a protective cast on his injured foot.
He said at the time he didn’t know the extent of the injury and had to wait on a diagnosis which Brendan Rodgers confirmed today at his media conference. Stephen McGowan from Scottish Daily Mail has confirmed the bad news, tweeting: “Brendan Rodgers confirms Celtic’s James Forrest faces six weeks on the sidelines.”

It’s a bitter blow to lose James especially with a big run of games looming. He might not play as much, but he would have definitely been in the manager’s plans as he will no doubt be looking to rotate his squad in the coming weeks.
That could leave the door open for South Korean winger Yang to state his case for more regular game time. Yang hasn’t featured much, but when he has he’s looked lively and this is the perfect opportunity for him to shine.

Luis Palma has missed out on Celtic squads recently with Yang and Jamesy being the two preferred wingers on the bench, usually coming on during the second half to replace Daizen Maeda and Nicholas Kuhn. Jamesy’s injury blow will perhaps open a door for the Honduran just as he’s getting linked with a January escape to the MSL.
